The Art of comparison
Why do I call it an Art? Because we seem to make it that, spending way too much time, talent, focus and senseless life and energy on comparison, one to another.
WHY..... is the question? I can come up with a few reasons, but none that are positive or worthwhile.
It's been said that when women see the magazines at the checkout stand, we go into auto mode of comparison and feeling "less than."
My hope is that you look at those magazines and smile in contentment that every wrinkle, bag or sag you have means you have enjoyed life and are alive and breathing today for a reason.
I can tell you that comparison is the fastest way to feel discouraged, trapped and jacked mentality.
A few quotes I like about comparison:
- “Comparison is the death of joy.” ― Mark Twain
- “Whatever your passion is, keep doing it. Don't waste time chasing after success or comparing yourself to others. Every flower blooms at a different pace. Excel at doing what your passion is and only focus on perfecting it. Eventually people will see what you are great at doing, and if you are truly great, success will come chasing after you.” ― Suzy Kassem
- “I cannot say this too strongly: Do not compare yourselves to others. Be true to who you are, and continue to learn with all your might.” ― Daisaku Ikeda
Women - lets choose to lose the comparisons one to another, and instead lift up one another with prayer, positive comments and actions. Let us together, learn with all our might and never dare to compare.
