Building on your Strength.... or is it Talent?

Building on your Strength.... or is it Talent?

How do you stand out in a crowd? You are, in fact uniquely created, and with that perfect design came a distinct set of natural talents that you were born with.  You know, the things that make you.... well YOU.

Actually most people don't really know their own strengths or talents - it seems much easier to ask someone else what your strengths or talents are, as they can quickly point them out - if you trust the person and the opinion that is.

So what is the difference?

Talent is your natural pattern for thinking, feeling or doing. Talents are naturally recurring - not forced and not learned patterns of thought, feeling, or behavior that can be productively applied.  Talents actually can not be learned.

You can take your talents, knowledge, and skills along with the time spent (i.e., investment) practicing, developing your skills, and building your knowledge base to create your strengths.

So what is a strength? A strength simply represents an ability that you've developed into a consistent, near-perfect performance. Hint - the key to building a fully developed strength is to identify your most dominant talents.

There are online tests that you can take that will help you clarify your strengths. Somehow there is peace in knowing who you are are and who you are not and working on the strengths instead of trying to do better at your weakness.

A well rounded person | leader will find people to add into their life or business who have opposite strengths - this helps to fill in the gaps of what might be missing. It's always a good idea to look at all situations with a different perspective; ironically people with  different strengths can look at the same situation differently and offer a difference view point.

Here's a link on the test that I personally took: Strengths testing

Closing thought: Be happy with who you are and the uniqueness of you and decide that this life of yours can be anything, absolutely anything you want it to be.  Decide today that you will choose to work with your God given strengths and natural ability.

Take the test,  or ask yourself or a trusted friend - what are my strengths ? Write them down. You must first become aware of them so that you can start to realize and work in your strength zone.

Open your mind to every possibility. Ask yourself  "If I had all the time and money in the world - what would I do with my life?"  The answer might be a clue to your strengths and natural gifts.
